Seeing the Colors

It is Jonas' second day on the job and he is saying goodbye to Fiona when it happens again. As Fiona turned away to go into the House of Old her hair changed. Not for a long time but only a small glimpse of a change. It wasn't in length or shape of her hair but something was distinctly changed. Jonas then calls back the memory of the sled ride and looks down at the sled underneath him. It happened again the sled changed the same way Fiona's hair did. Also the change happened with an apple a few weeks ago and the people in the audience in the Ceremony of Twelve. Jonas is very puzzled by this and asks the Giver what it could be. The Giver then explains that he is beggining to see the color red. Such as the apple, the sled, Fiona's hair, and the face of people in the crowd. All those situations have the color red in them. Then the Giver explains how he sees all colors and eventually one day he will too. He will once his memory is expanded by what the Giver gives to him.

  1. After reading this post, I really like the way you described how he was learning color by giving examples but not telling us; it kept me interested. One thing I think you could have done differently is added on to what you mean when you say "by what the Giver gives to him." Though overall, this is a very good post.

I have read this book before and by reading your blogs, it brings back my memory of the book. After reading this book and then reading your blog, I do agree with how you analyzed the book. Overall I think you have done a very good job with your blogs, keep it up!
